cashmere care

washing

We recommend dry cleaning your item but if you are familiar with cashmere and would like to wash it yourself - See below

  1. Close all buttons, zips and fastenings and remove any decorative items to wash separately

  2. Put your garment inside out and hand wash, do not machine wash, in lukewarm water using cashmere and wool detergent.*

*You can only wash items together if they are the same colour, if not - wash separately

  3. Rinse the garment in clean water until soap-free. Remove excess water without wringing or twisting but by applying pressure.

  4. Once complete, lay flat to dry on a clean towel while re-shaping the garment.

  5.  Once dry, (making sure the surface of the steam iron is clean) gently steam iron from the inside out.

When steam ironing pleated items, steam from a distance making sure not to apply any pressure on the pleats as this could damage the pleats.

storage and moth prevention

For storage and moth prevention be sure to store your clean cashmere garments by folding them (hanging your garment will stretch and de-shape it).

It is also advised to use moth repellants like lavender or cedarwood.

pilling

When the surface of the fibre rubs or gets rubbed during wear, a small entanglement of fuzz gradually becomes larger and a pill is made.

This is unavoidable due to the characteristics of the material, it cannot be completely prevented and does not mean that the garment is faulty

If there is pilling, it can easily be removed by lightly picking them off or using a special cashmere comb. If you continue to wear the garment without cleaning, it will be more likely to pill.

To prevent excessive pilling it is suggested that garments are worn on rotation. For example: after one wear, wait for two days.

*Mink finish items have had the surface of the fibre deliberately raised and fluffed to produce an extra soft finish. These items are more delicate and can pill more.

general care and useful information

Be careful not to tear and rip the garment by any type of sharp object.
